LUKAS K.

Hi, I'm Lukas. I’m a graphic designer based in Toronto. I’m interested in how visual systems shape stories across print, motion and digital culture. Research, iteration and material exploration are essential to my process.

This is a conceptual branding project for Geologic, a gallery and boutique offering a unique collection of authentic fossils, mineral specimens, and fine jewellery — a space that celebrates the beauty of the natural world. Geologic positions its offerings as “gifts from the earth”, elevating its specimens to the status of art objects to furnish and adorn your space and body.
Each piece offered is distinct in its origin, physical, and metaphysical properties. The identity system addresses the singular nature of the pieces using a tool that generates an infinite number of organic “crystallized” patterns which create texture that weave together motion, digital and print assets.
The minimal colour system bolsters the array of forms and colours of individual specimens. The Roman-style display type is reminiscent of ancient engravings, making reference to the centuries-old spiritual and metaphysical connotations that many of the specimens possess. In contrast, the monospace used for copy is stripped-down and tactical; used for presenting the minutiae of the details associated with each specimen.  The brandmark is a vaguely glyphic “G”, calling to mind primitive symbols and engravings and underlining the reverence Geologic has for the Earth and the beauty in the gifts it provides.
